Deccani wing of Indian Social Club holds annual event

MUSCAT: The Deccani wing of Indian Social Club organised their annual flagship event Jashn e Deccan at the Oman hall at CBFS college.
Jashn e Deccan celebrates the culture and traditions of the people of Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
This year’s event featured renowned Sufi singer Adil Hussaini. Adil regaled the crowd with popular and feet tapping qawwalis and songs. The evening started with the Hamd Allahu Allahu and ended with the popular damadam mast khalander.
During the event he also dedicated a section to famous Hyderabad poets Maqdoom Mohiuddin by singing his evergreen song ek chameli ke mandwe tale and to Shaz Tamkanat by entertaining the crowd with his famous poem kab tak mere.maula and followed it up with mauj e sahil se milo. The houseful audience enjoyed these soulful renditions.
Adil is a true entertainer and left a mark of his own amongst music lovers in Muscat with his memorable presentations.
Dr S M Wasifuddin, convenor of Deccani wing welcomed the guests. Ismail Baig, co-convenor spoke about the event and its relevance, he also gave a brief history of the Deccani wing and how Jashn e Deccan has evolved into a much sought for event in the muscat cultural calendar.
The Deccani wing also honoured social workers and community members who had volunteered and contributed to the wellbeing of others.
Irshad Ahmed, counsellor at the Indian Embassy Muscat, gave away the awards and congratulated the wing and its members on the continued good work the wing is doing to keep people together and supporting social as well as hosting cultural events.
Ahmed Maseehuddin of Arabian Modern Travels gave away the mementoes to Adil Hussaini and his troupe members.
