With a renewed heritage facade, Dhofar’s Khareef 2023 will have many new features. Muscat National Development and Investment Company (ASAAS) has completed the first phase of Al Haffa Beach Market in Salalah.
Work on the project covering over 60,000 square metres began in 2021 in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Dhofar Municipality and ASAAS .
“The Edge Development Project is a distinguished addition to the tourism, investment projects and opportunities it provides to the governorate, due to the presence of components and elements that open wide horizons for such projects,” said Ahmed bin Salem al Busaidy, Chairman of ASAAS, during the launch of the project.
He also stressed the role of the Omani Investment Authority in empowering investment companies and giving them priority and confidence in developing tourism projects in the Sultanate of Oman. It is in line with the Sultanate of Oman's strategy to enhance the tourism sector and diversify sources of income in line with the goals of the future vision of the Sultanate of Oman, Oman Vision 2040.
The waterfront consists of a series of shops, some of which are functional. It also has a marine walkway, which is ready along with other services and entertainment facilities.
The Al Hafa Beach Market project consists of heritage markets, restaurants and cafes, family service and entertainment units, and rental areas exceeding 14,000 square metres.
Al Hafah Market, in its new look, provides the necessary capabilities to develop a national product with high quality, and to be a destination for many small and medium enterprises, and to attract leading brands.
With the Sultanate of Oman moving towards decentralisation, all governorates represented by governors' offices are working on developing and implementing a number of developmental, service and infrastructure projects that contribute to supporting and developing the state's economy and meeting the needs of the citizen.
Dhofar Governorate has become a tourist destination not only during the Khareef season. Being a summer city during the Khareef for local, Gulf and Arab tourists, it has a large presence year after year during the winter season in light of direct flights coming from abroad. It has become a tourist destination during the winter for European tourists.
Salalah markets appeal to many tourists due to its diversity and multiple options that it provides to visitors, and one of the most famous of these markets is the Al Hafa market, which is located in the Al Hosn area, which used to carry many shops and goods among its halls that attracted the admiration of its visitors.
This place has become a destination for many people who want to enjoy a unique shopping experience, as it is considered one of the most famous and distinguished historical markets, as it is characterised as a diverse market.
