Bidiya Sands buzz with excitement during Desert Adventures Festival

 
BIDIYA: The Desert Adventures Festival is underway in Al Sharqiya Sands, attracting a wide community participation from inside and outside the governorate.

The festival, organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of Al Sharqiyah North Governorate and several government and private agencies, is taking place from January 29 to February 3.

The festival features a variety of cultural, sports, entertainment and heritage events and activities, targeting different groups of society and tourists. Mohammed bin Nasser al Hajri, a member of the municipal council, said the festival aims to boost winter tourism in the region and create a community movement to visit the sands of Bidiya.



Hamad bin Saif al Badawi, Head of the Tourism Promotion Department at the Heritage and Tourism Department in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, emphasised the importance of supporting small and medium enterprises and also raising reservation rates in hotel establishments and tourist camps.

The festival includes activities such as the exhibition of small and medium enterprises, classic car exhibition, international rally championship, and a number of accompanying events such as the royal balloons, sand skiing, camelback tours, sand biking, adventure tourism exhibition and theatre. The festival also features sailing, mobile carts, bands performances, Oman International Motor Championship, and an exhibition of camping, tourism and adventure tools.
