Oman, UNEP review environmental issues

MUSCAT: Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, met with Sami Dimassi, Regional Director and Representative of the United Nations Environment Programme for West Asia (UNEP) on the sidelines of Oman Conference on Environmental Sustainability.
They discussed a number of topics related to international relations, training programmes in climate change and biodiversity, the effect of dust on air quality and the suitable solutions to limit its effect on the Sultanate of Oman’s Environmental Performance Index (EPI).
The UNEP representative underscored the importance of partnership between the UNEP and the Environment Authority in preparing the national strategy for adaptation and mitigation of climate change, noting that the Sultanate of Oman has achieved positive figures in EPI. — ONA
