Municipalities conduct clean-up drives after rains

 
Muscat: Muscat Municipality and South Batinah Municipality have conducted a number of clean-up drives in the aftermath of the rainfall that hit the governorate on Wednesday .

The municipality has conducted several campaigns to clean sites, and remove debris resulting from the rainfall that hit some wilayats of the governorate.’

Light to heavy rainfall was recorded on December 26 and 27 in a number of wilayats of the governorate.

The Wilayat of Muttrah in Muscat Governorate received a record rainfall of 153mm in a span of few hours on Tuesday, on December 27. Muscat Municipality too has been sprucing up streets and draining water-logged roads and neighbourhoods.

The Wilayat of Muttrah recorded the highest amount of rain, amounting to 154 mm, followed by Muscat with 113 mm and Al Seeb 77 mm, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

While the Wilayat of Barka in South Al Batinah Governorate has recorded 49 mm of rainfall, 28 mm in the Wilayat of Al Musannah located in same governorate, 26 mm in the Wilayat of Bukha in Musandam Governorate and 25 in each of the Wilayat of Nakhl in South Al Batinah Governorate and the Wilayat of Bausher in Muscat Governorate.

The Wilayat of Daba in Musandam Governorate has received 23 mm of rainfall, 22 mm in each of the Wilayat of Khasab and Wadi Al Maawil and 16 mm in the Wilayat of Liwa in North Al Batinah Governorate.
