Musandam to get rain, Jabel Shams records 2.6 degrees Celsius

 
Muscat: Jabal Shams recorded the lowest temperature of 2.6 degrees Celsisus during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the aerial picture shows the beginning of the flow of clouds over the Musandam Governorate, with chances of sporadic rain of varying intensity in the coming yours.

On Sunday. Oman met said that upper air troughs will likely continue to affect the Sultanate of Oman until December 28.

Clouds advection will continue affecting the governorates of Musandam, north al Batinah and al Buraimi with chances of rain showers (10-30 mm). Also, chances of convective clouds over the Al Hajar Mountains with a chance of isolated rain and occasionally thundershowers.

Monday to Wednesday

A trough of new low pressure will likely affect the sultanate starting Monday afternoon gradually and will continue until Wednesday. This weather event will be associated with clouds advection and chances of different intensities of rain showers occasionally thundershowers over the governorates of Musandam, North al Batinah, South al Batinah, Buraimi, Al Dakhilyah, Muscat, Al Dhahirah and North al Sharqiyah and South al Shargiyah.

Expected Impacts:

1. Rain showers from 10-50 mm may cause wadies flows.

2. Fresh downdraft winds with speed of 15 to 35 kt (30-70knv/h)

3. Sea state will be moderate to rough with maximum wave height will be between 2 meters to 3.0 meters along the coasts of Musandam governorate and the coastal areas of Oman sea

Civil Aviation Authority advises all to take precautions during rain and wadies flow and to check

the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins & reports.
