Students discuss child rights with Minister of Social Development

Students from various schools of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate participated in the meeting hosted by the UNICEF office of Oman with Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najar, Minister of Social Development, on Monday.
The meeting aimed to discuss the rights of the children and children with disabilities. The team was led by Bashar bin Ali bin Nasser al Busaidi of Malik bin Fahm School for Basic Education and Jihan bint Saif bin Mohammed al Hinai of Besiya School for Basic Education.
Jihan al Hinai said: “We had the honour to participate with my fellow students in a dialogue session with the Minister of Social Development as part of the celebration of the International Children’s Day. In this meeting, we discussed the rights of children with disabilities, the values of citizenship, and child protection rights.”
Al Hinai added: “I was pleased to meet a group of distinguished students who expressed their opinions during the meeting and represented the children of the Omani society. The minister answered our questions. I confirm that such dialogues are a successful step for the children of Oman to share their views.”
Bashar al Busaidi said: “The most important issues raised in the session were the rights of the child in Oman, the rights of children with disabilities, the ministry’s vision for the child for the year 2040, and the Child Protection Law. The session was enriching and successful, as we benefited greatly from it. It was an opportunity to discuss issues that concern us.”
