Muscat: The Department of Criminal Investigation arrested two Arab nationals on charges of fraud and online extortion through a social media program after they impersonated a girl and communicated with the victim, and blackmailed him to transfer large sums of money.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) advised against accepting friendships with strangers on social media or sending any money under any pressure or threat.
In the event of harassment or blackmail, victims should report it to the toll-free number (80077444) or to the Department of Criminal Investigation.
