New fish species discovered in Kamzar

MUSCAT: The Marine Science and Fisheries Centre (MSFC) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, discovered a new fish species in the Omani waters, the ministry announced on Wednesday.
The pudgy cusk-eel, found in Kamzar area in Musandam Governorate where the MSFC is carrying out surveys in the coastal governorates, belongs to Ophidiidae family, a group of bony fishes classified under the Ophidiiformes order.
The discovery marks a scientific documentation and a significant addition to the biodiversity asset the Sultanate of Oman boasts. — ONA
