Top spikers ready for Oman Beach Pro Tour in Suhar

The Oman Volleyball Association (OVA) is gearing up to host Oman Volleyball Beach Pro Tour (Future class) from November 1 to 3 in Suhar.

OVA Chairman Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, told the Observer that FIVB (World volleyball governing body) approved Oman’s bid to host one of the series of the Beach Pro Tour (Future class).

“More than 48 teams submitted their request to attend in the tournament but according to FIVB ranking, only 28 teams representing 15 countries across the world are confirmed to take part in the event in Suhar city. The technical and logistics preparations are going as per the plan and we are expecting to complete all these preparatory plans ahead of the tournament,” he said.

The chief of OVA added in his exclusive remarks that OVA is planning with FIVB to host Beach Pro Tour (Challenge class) which is higher division than the future class. “We are in the final negotiation with the officials at FIVB to confirm hosting World Beach Pro Tour (Challenge class) in Oman by earlier next year. The other details will be unveiled very soon,” he added.

Suhar city will host global ranking spikers in the world including Tocs and Fokerots from Latvia, who top the standing along with second ranked Chinese duo of HA Likjiang and Wu Jiaxin.

The pair of Dumek and Sedlak will represent the Czech Republic. Oman team will be represented by Mazin al Hashmi and Haitham al Shuraiqi in Team A while Ahmed al Hosni and Hood al Jalboubi will feature in Team B. Oman team players will take part in an international tournament by end of October ahead of the Suhar event.

The FIVB, represented by Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour, organised in this year the first edition of the global elite professional beach volleyball circuit in three tiers including: Future, Challenge and Elite 16. FIVB established the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour events as replacement of the former FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

The 2022 season ends with the finals featuring the 10 best teams in the world. As many as 23 events in Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Future events have been completed. The upcoming event is scheduled to take place in Subic Bay, Philippines, during December 9 to 11 and then in the Hague, Netherlands, from December 28 to 31. Suhar city is among 25 cities around the world which were awarded the right to host World Volleyball Beach Pro Tour in Future circuit.
