Tillon, Lienshoeft winners of IRONMAN 70.3 SALALAH triathlon

SALALAH: Over 700 athletes took part in the IRONMAN 70.3 SALALAH triathlon in the scenic backdrop of Hawana Salalah. Etienne Tillon and Lea Lienshoeft emerged as winners of the endurance race.
Triathletes raced against the clock on a route consisting of a 1.2 mile (1.9 km) swim, followed by a 56 mile (90 km) bike ride, and a final 13.1 mile (21.1 km) run – for a combined total distance of over 70.3 miles (just over 113 kilometres).
IRONMAN 70.3 SALALAH was held in association with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Dhofar Municipality, and hosted by Hawana Salalah – the world-class luxury tourism destination in Salalah, in southern Oman.
Governor of Dhofar His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said congratulated the main category winners and gave away prizes. In the men’s category, Etienne Tillon (France) took first place in the main event. Mohammed Isa (Bahrain) took second place, and David Hynes (Britain) took third place. In the women’s category, Lea Lienshoeft (Germany) took first place, followed by Daisy Baker (Britain) in second, and Melissa Abbey (Zambia) in third place.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mohamed Obaidani, CEO, Triathlon Middle East LLC, said, “IRONMAN 70.3 SALALAH has been a truly exceptional event. I thank all parties involved in making this a highly successful and memorable event, which was a world-class sporting event for the Sultanate of Oman. Congratulations to all athletes who took part. The CEO also announced that registration is now open for the IRONMAN 70.3 MUSCAT event taking place in the nation’s capital in February 2023. We hope to see you all again next year.”
