Muscat: The Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (ASMED) announced registration for Creative Industries Incubator in a strategic partnership with the Youth Center.
The move aims to boost young people's creativity and channel their energies in the right direction.
The creative industries have a promising economic outlook and constitute a major pillar of innovation. The Creative Industries Incubator programme has a highly competitive advantage. The economic activities here are in line with the priorities of Oman Vision 2040.
The Authority called on small and medium enterprises and those with innovative ideas in the field to register in the Creative Industries Incubator via an electronic link that has been published on the Authority's social media platforms.
In his comments to Oman Observer, Abdullah al Sunaidy, Director of Entrepreneurship Department, said, 'The Creative Industries Incubator focuses on areas of highly competitive advantage that keep pace with global trends in the creative industries sector. The Authority will provide a set of programmes and services such as guidance, counselling, and specialised and general consultations, within an integrated programme in cooperation with the public and private sectors.'
The initiative, which is one of the economic stimulus initiatives announced by the Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy in August 2022, aims to empower institutions in this field, create a group of emerging companies with high technical and administrative capabilities in the field of creative industries, provide technical support and the necessary services that institutions need through guidance and counselling, as well as contribute to creating job opportunities through the development of the creative industries sector.
It targets 30 small and medium enterprises in the creative industries. The incubator provides office space, consultancy, guidance and training, and the resources and services necessary for the establishment and growth of the project.
The programme will be operated from Youth Center headquarters in the Governorate of Muscat. The Youth Centre is to provide an integrated innovative youth space to support young people's creative and pioneering thoughts.
It also aims to fulfil the aspirations of young people that contribute to developing their talent and skills.
Creative Industries include arts and culture, design, publishing and media, electronic games, performing arts, films and videos.
Such initiatives stimulate economic activity in partnership with the private sector and support the role of small and medium enterprises.
These initiatives have a huge development outlook for micro, small and medium enterprises registered with the Authority in the Sultanate of Oman. At the end of last July, the number of SMEs rose by 47 per cent to reach 81,460 institutions.
