Stamps on Oman’s freshwater fishes rolled out

MUSCAT: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in collaboration with Oman Post rolled out four commemorative stamps depicting Oman’s freshwater fishes. The stamps represent the cover and the seal of the first day of issuance of the stamps.
Dr Saud bin Musalam al Jufaili, Head of Maritime and Fishes Science at the College of Agriculture and Maritime Sciences at SQU, said: “These fishes are among 23 fish species which live in Oman’s freshwaters. They are classified into 15 Genus, 10 Families, and 7 Classes. Cooperation continues in this regard between SQU and Shiraz University in Iran.
Those fishes live in caves, valleys, natural wells, dams in the Hajar mountains, Dhofar mountains, the south-western coast and the interiors. — ONA
