MUSCAT: The Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) is organising a promotional conference for listed companies on September 5, showcasing the investment environment for the securities sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

Haitham bin Salim al Salmi (pictured), CEO of the Muscat Stock Exchange, said: 'The conference is a promotional platform for publicly listed public shareholding companies with the aim of introducing them, their financial performance, the most prominent projects in which they operate and their future plans to local, regional and international investors.

Al Salmi explained that the conference will bring together the CEOs of the largest public shareholding companies, and includes several working papers on economic achievements and projects in the Sultanate of Oman that enhance its position in meeting the aspirations of investors and making it an attractive investment environment, and restructuring government companies through the Oman Investment Authority (OIA).

He added that the organisation of the conference comes within the framework of the transformation witnessed by the Muscat Stock Exchange by changing its identity into a company operating as a commercial entity.

The strategic plan it is currently working on will be prioritised to promote the attractiveness of the stock exchange and also attract capital.

The CEO of the Muscat Stock Exchange pointed out that the conference will enhance effective communication between investors and public shareholding companies to develop the performance of these companies and identify the available investment opportunities, which will be an opportunity for companies to expand and diversify the investor base in their shares.

He stressed that the MSX seeks to continue holding such promotional conferences and meetings that will enhance the position of the exchange on the global investment map, and introduce investment opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman.

The conference will be attended by representatives from financial bodies and organisations, banks and investment companies, portfolio managers from different countries of the world, and representatives from the Omani capital market sector, investment institutions and brokerage firms.
