All tourist sites except Al Mughsayl beach reopen

 
All tourist sites except Al Mughsayl beach in Dhofar were reopened on Thursday, said authorities after 16 people lost their lives and 40 were rescued in different governorates during the rains that resulted from low pressure over the Arabian Sea since July 7.

'Within the framework of coordination with the competent authorities, the ministry would like to announce to the visitors that all tourist sites in Dhofar Governorate are reopen after the end of the tropical situation, emphasising the need for visitors to adhere to the safety procedures issued by the concerned authorities, ' the the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said in a statement.

Al Mughsayl beach remained closed as search was still on for missing persons, Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority tweeted. The search and rescue teams are continuing their efforts to search for the remaining three people from the missing family in the Al Mughsayl area in addition to one of the missing expatriate workers in the Raysut area in the Dhofar Governorate.

The Royal Air Force of Oman aviation is supporting the search and rescue teams in the process of covering the beaches of the Al Mughsayl area to search for the missing after they were swept into the sea.

On Sunday, an eight member expat family fell into the sea after they crossed the cliff in Al Mughsayl beach in Dhofar Governorate.

The Royal Oman Police said all visitors must adhere to safety guidelines. Special care must be taken that children must not be left unattended.

ROP has arrested two citizens for crossing Wadi Ahin in the Wilayat of Sohar, North Al Batinah Governorate.

'The North Al Batinah Governorate Police Command arrested two citizens for not complying with the instructions to stay away from the streams of the valleys, during the flow of Wadi Ahin in the Wilayat of Sohar. ROP referred them to the judicial authorities to take legal action against them, ' ROP said in a statement.
