OHA youth hockey competition draw held

Muscat: The draw for the youth hockey competition for 2022 was held on Tuesday at the Oman Hockey Association headquarters, in the presence of Dr Marwan bin Juma al Jumaa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, number of association members and representatives of the participating clubs.
The competition will be held from July 16-26.
The draw saw some modifications with the withdrawal of the Dhofar and Sohar clubs, and the seven participating teams in the competition were divided into two groups.
The first group included Nizwa, Ahli Sidab, Bausher and Salalah, while the second group included Al Seeb, Al Nasr and Al Bashaer.
The competition system is the first and second from each group will qualify for the second round.
The clubs play the Super League to determine the top two teams who will play the final match, while the third and fourth placed team play the third place play-off match. With regard to the rest of the clubs that were eliminated from the group league, the clubs will play matches to determine the fifth, sixth and seventh positions, in a league system of one round.
Dr Khamis bin Salem al Rahbi, Secretary-General of the Oman Hockey Association, indicated that all matches of the competition will be held in Muscat, due to the withdrawal of the Sohar and Dhofar clubs.
He indicated that there are financial rewards for the participating clubs, as he confirmed that the first place will receive RO 1,000, the second place will receive RO 750, while the third will receive RO 500, in addition to an amount of RO 50 for each of the best player, best goalkeeper and best scorer.
