Oman to participate at Islamic Solidarity Games

Muscat: The Oman Olympic Committee decided to participate in the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, to be hosted by Turkey in the city of “Konya” during the period from August 9-18, 2022 with the participation of nearly 6,000 athletes representing 58 countries.
The five sports that Oman will take part in are athletics, shooting, weightlifting, cycling and swimming, under the supervision of the Sports Federation of Islamic Solidarity Games.
The Islamic Solidarity Games tournament includes numbers of sports like 3×3 basketball, aerobic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, athletics, football, table tennis, archery, bicycles, track bikes, wrestling, fencing, weightlifting, judo, karate, swimming, taekwondo, handball, kickboxing, bocce, traditional Turkish archery and volleyball.
The Islamic Solidarity Games are considered a very major sporting event on the lines of the Olympic Games, in which 6,000 multinational athletes from 58 countries participate, organised by the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, which was established on May 6,1985 in Riyadh, under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
OOC RESTRUCTURING
As part of the new restructuring of the Oman Olympic Committee, Khalifa al Esai was appointed as the executive director of the committee.
Mohammed al Rahbi as assistant to the executive director, and Khaled al Hasani as technical adviser.
