Hamad clinches third place in Lebanon Rally

MUSCAT: Oman’s Hamad al Wahaibi bagged the third place in the Spring Rally, at the first stage of the 2022 Lebanese Rally Championship which is in its 37th edition, organised by the Lebanese Automobile and Tourism Club in of Keserwan and Jbeil, with the participation of 21 cars, at a distance of 232.27 km.

Roger Feghali and his co-driver Judy Feghali clinched the rally title ‘Volkswagen Polo’, while Tamer Ghandour and his co-driver Salim Jalilati finished second in 'Skoda Fabia' by 38.9 seconds off the leaders.

The Omani international rider Hamad al Wahaibi and his New Zealand co-driver Tony Sercombe clocked a time difference of one minute and 14 seconds from the winner in 66.68 km race as first stage.

The cars set off from Lebanon in six stages, and 18 out of 21 cars crossed the arrival line. Roger began the journey to defend his title by scoring the best time in all stages, outperforming his opponents. Feghali scored the best time, 13 seconds compared with Ghandour, and 35 seconds from Hamad al Wahaibi, in the fourth stages.

In the fifth and sixth stages, Feghali achieved the difference in the general standings with 36.8 seconds from Ghandour, who is the champion of Lebanon in 2016, and one minute and 14 seconds from Hamad al Wahaibi.
