Italian National Day celebrated in Oman

Enduring friendship: Reception highlights 50 years of robust diplomatic relations between Italy and Sultanate of Oman

 
The Ambassador of Italy in Muscat, Federica Favi, celebrated the Italian National Day at the Diplomatic Club under the auspices of Salim bin Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, accompanied by an official delegation including high profile members of the State Council and Majlis Ash’shura, Sultan’s Armed forces and Foreign Ministry and other government entities.

The reception highlighted 50 years of friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation in many fields, from culture to economy, from people to people contacts to technology.

The event was attended by over 400 guests among officials, personalities and members of the Italian and Omani communities.

On this occasion, Federica Favi, Italian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, said: “I am very grateful to the late Sultan Qaboos and to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik for their affection and friendship for Italy and to all the Omanis who work with Italy on a daily basis, to those who choose Italy for their leisure, business, cultural activities or education.

Today, we celebrate half a century of long-lasting and promising bilateral relations, for a common, tireless commitment to international peace and security, prosperity, justice and human development.”

This year’s Italian National Day celebration was supported by the Omani Foreign Ministry , the Diplomatic Club, Muscat String Quartet, the Omani-Italian Friendship Association “TOIFA”, Dhofar Automotive representing “Alfa Romeo and Fiat”, Al Rofoof Hotel Supplies & Trading representing finest Italian Coffee from Illy Café, the delightful Italian cheese by Almarsa Gourmet, Al Maya International representing “Lago”, Al Seer representing “Ferrero and Nutella”, Catering Solutions Trading representing “Barilla and Pomi”, Tunes Trading & Services and InterContinental Muscat Hotel.
