The Oman Medical Specialty Board, in cooperation with the Omani Family Medicine Society, will organize an awareness campaign on Tuesday, to celebrate World Hypertension Day, which falls on the 17th of May of each year.
The campaign will include various activities among which is a Football competition for the employees and an evening event in the Mall of Muscat.
The evening event will include two main activities, “The Little Paramedic Workshop” at Oman Aquarium to train children on the basics of first aid, and the public awareness campaign in the Mall of Muscat, which will include a consultation corner.
The public awareness campaign will include a consultation corner promoting the importance of exercise and healthy eating habits, in addition to distributing awareness brochures on high blood pressure and free screening to measure blood pressure and body fat.
Free prizes and gifts for children will also be distributed.
This event aims to raise awareness and provide health information about the causes and risks of developing high blood pressure and how to prevent it. It also aims at encouraging community members to exercise, follow a healthy lifestyle, and encourage adults to test their blood pressure and refer to health care centers, to avoid any complications that may occur if the disease is not detected by undergoing periodic examination.
A group of OMSB family medicine doctors and specialized members of the Omani Family Medicine Society, a number of employees of the Oman Medical Specialty Board, in addition to a number of private companies that contributed to sponsoring this day as part of their social responsibilities, will participate in this event.
