The Indian state of Rajasthan is known for exotic architecture, vibrant culture, rich wildlife and warm hospitality. It hosts a large number of domestic and international tourists. The waning of Covid-19 infections has given everyone reason to travel and new hope for the travel industry.
After judging people's mood to travel, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) has decided to roll out the iconic travel facility 'Palace on Wheels', an Indian Railway initiative to showcase landmark tourist locations in Rajasthan.
The IRTDC officials are planning a new agreement with the Indian Railway to relaunch the facility, the services of which were suspended in the wake of the pandemic.
Keeping in mind the upcoming tourism season in September, the IRTDC is working to resume the state's premium attraction, Palace on Wheels – to woo domestic and foreign tourists again.
Dharmendra Rathore, the newly appointed chairman of the RTDC, has already done some rounds of meetings to resume the operations of the luxury train.
The prestigious train will return after two years as the Covid-19 situation has improved, and it is time for some advance planning. Initial meetings between RTDC officials, national and international tour operators, hoteliers and other stakeholders have been held over the resumption of train operations, ANI reported.
The Palace on Wheels has been in operation since 1982. It has emerged as a major attraction among high-end tourists. It has a circuit that starts from New Delhi and covers Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Sawai Madhopur and Agra in Uttar Pradesh. For bookings, interested tourists need to visit IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) website.
'Call it a pent up desire to travel or 'revenge tourism' that many are referring to for the comeback of the people's desire to move, either to meet family and friends or to beat the monotony of being in one place for more than two years, people have started coming out which is good news for those involved in the hospitality industry. Resumption of Palace on Wheels will certainly boost tourism in Rajasthan,' said travel operator Sunil Grover.
The IRCTC boasts a facility that covers 'more than five World Heritage sites, wildlife, cultural interactions, shopping extravaganza and folk performances. The train offers the best of Royal Rajasthan.'
An official document associated with the Palace on Wheels calls the train's cabins 'an epitome of royal pleasures equipped with all the latest amenities to allow enjoying a matchless luxury train travel experience.'
The Palace on Wheels luxury train is likely to be back on track in another four months with all its facilities and services.
