Oman takes over Asia-Pacific Presidency of United Nations

 
MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman officially took over the presidency of the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations in a ceremony organised in New York.

Ambassador Amrit Bahadur, Permanent Representative of Nepal to the United Nations, expressed his happiness at the Sultanate of Oman’s assumption of the rotating presidency of the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations, adding that the international standing and reputation Oman enjoys qualifies it to lead this vital and effective group at the United Nations.

For his part, Ambassador Dr Mohammed bin Awad al Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, expressed the Sultanate of Oman's readiness to lead the Asia-Pacific Group at the United Nations, whose membership includes 55 countries, stressing the Sultanate of Oman's endeavour to preserve the interests of Asian and Pacific countries in the organisation, international forums. -- ONA
