'Understand, before you judge'

It is better not to jump to conclusions than to understand the situation or the person and realise the reality before drawing conclusions, according to experts attending the 5th edition of the Ta'aruf organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs represented by the Department of Islamic Information and Cultural Exchange at Ifta Office.
“Holy Quran is the manual of operation for human beings when they were sent to the earth and were advised not to spoil the earth, instead of nourish it with their efforts,” said Wael al Harrasi and Dr. Hatim Abdussalam, two acclaimed scholars who attended the event titled 'Custodian on Earth' at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre on Friday.
'Custodian on Earth session was a window to those who wanted to know more about Islam with all its true instructions to mankind,' Abdulrahman al Khalili, Head of the Department of Introduction to Islam and Cultural Exchange at the Ministry, said.
The idea behind the evening of believers and non-believers was to shed more light on the principles of Islam at a time when wrong conceptions, misunderstandings about Islam and Islamophobia persist among some segments of the society.
'Ta'aruf' which translates as 'Know Islam' hosted people who wanted to know more of the religion, its applicability in the modern world, and its stance in global events. 'Ta'aruf is an exclusive event to let the non-Muslims and new Muslims know more about Islam with all its true instructions to mankind,' Hamed al Badi, representative of the Ministry, told the Observer.
'At a time when everything is closed and people stay indoors in the fight against the pandemic, the speech of Mufti Menk will prove to be a guiding principle of Islam and the tenets of the religion. I believe it is something one should not let go and I request all to attend the event,' said Hatim Abdussalam of Al Istiqama TV.
'Get back to the holy book because it is issued for mankind and not for a particular group of people. It is a book that has answers to any topic be it social, scientific, personal, spiritual, social, marital, and you name it, all the issues concerning our lives are detailed and solutions described,' said Dr. Wael al Harrasi.
