ROP finds old projectiles in mountain area

Muscat: A number of objects that resembled old projectiles were found in one of the mountainous area of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate far from the populated centres.
The area was used as a military exercise area in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
The area was secured and the safe handling of suspicious objects was completed by the explosive ordnance disposal team.
The Royal Oman Police (ROP) cautioned against messing with unknown objects calling on the public to report any such objects to the nearest police station or call the Police Operations Centre.
Earlier in the day, the explosive ordnance disposal team responded to a report from a citizen that he possesses an old projectile that was found some time ago in a remote mountainous area in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.
This week, two college students died at their accommodation in the Wilayat of Nizwa on Tuesday evening, ROP announced.
The police initial investigation indicates that they were messing with an object that seemed like an old projectile they came across in a mountainous area before it exploded.
