‘Know Islam' to host people from other faiths

Ta'aruf which translates as 'Know Islam', currently in its 5th edition, will host people who want to know more about the religion, its applicability in the modern world, and its stance in global events at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, represented by the Department of Islamic Information and Cultural Exchange at the Iftaa Office, is organising an Iftar for people from other faiths to delve into the beauty of the faith.

'Ta'aruf' which translates as 'Know Islam', currently in its 5th edition, will host people who want to know more about the religion, its applicability in the modern world, and its stance in global events at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Friday, April 22 (Ramadhan 20) from 4.30 pm to 9.30 pm under the theme: 'Custodian on Earth'.

'Ta'aruf, an exclusive event to let the non-Muslims and new Muslims know Islam better, is held under the auspices of the Department of Islamic Information and Cultural Exchange at the ministry and will be a window to those who want to know about Islam with all its true instructions to mankind,' Hamed al Badi, representative of the ministry, told the Observer.

Shaikh Ismail Menk, aka Mufti Menk, an acclaimed name among Islamic scholars and one of the most important Islamic scientists in Zimbabwe, addressed the Sultanate of Oman’s audience on virtual platform in the last edition of Ta'aruf last year.

He delivered a discourse on 'The Quran - A Remedy for Soul, Mind and Body', in the series of speeches titled 'Struggle and Healing in the Holy Quran' at the event organised by the MERA represented by the Department of Islamic Information and Cultural Exchange (Iftaa Office).

'At a time when everything is closed, and people stay indoors in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the speech of Mufti Menk will prove to be a guiding principle of Islam and the tenets of the religion. I believe it is something one should not let go and I request all to attend the event,' said Hatim Abdissalam of al Istiqama TV.

Attendance will be restricted to only new reverts to Islam and people from other faiths. The event's registration link:
