Oman-America Press Forum starts in Washington

 
Washington: The Omani American Press Forum, which organized by the Omani Journalists Associations at the Sultan Qaboos Center for Culture and Science in Washington, began on Wednesday aiming to highlight the historical and civilizational status of the Omani-US relations that witnessed during the last centuries, in addition to strength the relations in the media field.

During the opening ceremony, His Excellency Musa bin Hamdan Al Taie, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the United States said: “This forum, held here at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center and will continue for three days, not only represents a bridge supporting cultural communication between us, but also sheds light on Oman’s rich culture. The many papers and presentations during this forum will undoubtedly highlight what unites us most.”

Al Taie added that Oman has witnessed, over the past decades, a comprehensive renaissance and development that has put it among the advanced nations in various fields. “Oman is now witnessing a renewed renaissance under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect him.”

This growth is based on an Omani vision of opening up to the world, extending a hand of friendship, and promoting trade. It implements a development plans aimed at diversifying the economy, especially through important sectors, including industries, mining, tourism, and renewable energy, as well as encouraging foreign direct investment in those sectors and other promising investment opportunities.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Omani Ambassador in the USA and the members of the embassy for the efforts they made for the success of the establishment of this forum.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of their Excellencies, the heads of diplomatic missions in Washington and a group of journalists.

The photo exhibition that accompanies the work of this forum opened during the kicked off of the forum and it represents an opportunity to learn about the diverse Omani environment transmitted through the lenses of Omani photographers.

A group of media professionals, academics, writers and researchers from the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America are participating in the forum, with working papers and research papers focused on the history and future of cooperation and friendship relations between the two friendly countries.
