Shura education panel reviews quality assurance of education

Muscat: The Education and Scientific Research Committee of Majlis Ash’shura, hosted Dr Jokha bint Abdullah al Shukailiyah, Executive President of Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education, and a number of specialists at the Authority.
During the sixth regular meeting of the Education and Scientific Research Committee of Majlis Ash’shura held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Jamal bin Ahmed al Abri, the committee reviewed the Authority’s role following the expansion of its specializations in accordance with Royal Decree 9/2021.
During the meeting, Dr Jokha delivered a visual presentation that included an overview of the Authority and its organizational structure, activities and quality assurance processes in the higher education sector. The presentation touched on the quality assurance of school education, the National Qualifications Framework as well as the Authority’s efforts, achievements and the challenges it faces.
The committee also discussed several topics related to the Authority’s work aimed at ensuring greater quality and effectiveness in the evaluation of higher and school education in the Sultanate of Oman.
The committee discussed an expressed desire regarding career paths of fashion design graduates, and reviewed several other topics including a message from students of the College of Medicine at the National University of Science and Technology and promotions of the employees of the Ministry of Education during the 2002-2007 period.
