Schools re-open with blended learning

All government schools in the Sultanate of Oman are re-opening on Sunday to resume the second semester of the current academic year 2021-2022. Based on the current epidemiological situation, blended learning will be adopted for now as this period will be evaluated in line with the pandemic situation in the country.
The Ministry of Education decided that students should receive education through a blended learning system to ensure the continuation of the educational process while maintaining the health and safety of teachers and students as coronavirus is still spreading at the local and global levels.
Schools will continue to activate their educational platforms during weeks of distance education system for different classes through the 'Google Classroom' and 'Mandhara' and implement synchronous and asynchronous lessons to complement the efforts made in this aspect during the first semester.
'Indicators of the use of educational platforms during the first semester for different grades were high whether it was via sync, async lessons, uploading educational files, solving assignments, uploading educational assessment questions,' an official from the ministry confirmed, adding that the ministry will continue to activate the platforms in accordance with the plans in this regard.
This period in the Sultanate of Oman is considered an exceptional one due to the outbreak of Covid-19. The blended education system was developed to facilitate receiving education for students at all levels and to protect them and ensure access to education without delay.
In an earlier decision, the Ministry of Education announced exams and holiday dates for the 2021-2022 academic year in the Sultanate of Oman. For the second semester starting today, exams for grades 5-8 will start on May 18 and end on May 25. For grades 9-10, exams will start on May 18 and end on May 29. For grade 11, exams will be from May 18 till May 31. For grade 12, exams for subjects of individual skills start on June 1. Exams for the rest of the subjects will start on June 5 and end on June 30.
