MUSCAT: More than 30 years involved in charity that touched innumerable lives — anyone could call up Rahima, if they were stuck in life.

An early memory was about a trip to a house which was hardly that and young children staying close to their mother as the social worker talked to the mother about her living conditions.

Rahima al Musafir soon was looking out for a job opportunity for the eldest son.

Poverty can strike anytime to anyone but Rahima was a sister people could lean on and hope for better days.

She also would look at even potential job opportunities if need be so that families could stand on their own feet.

Over the years her charity initiative became an association and officially recognised and with the board of directors. Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood was established in 2005 in the Wilayat of Seeb. In the beginning it was more of networking through phone calls and later it was SMS and now the association is listed and present on government portal for charity organizations donate.om. And there it is with all the contact details of the President too.

She served as Chairperson of board of directors of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood and continued to be there for the orphans, the poor and the needy. They successfully reached out to less fortunate families in the society across all the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman providing them with financial or non-financial support through donation from the private sector or individual donors. The team members of the association are ready to offer assistance anytime of the day under any circumstances.

Rahima’s solutions were practical and her humanitarian initiatives made the disadvantaged happy by making their lives easier.

The Association divided the causes such as Sanaid initiative, school breakfast meal for the needy students, maintenance and house renovations for families and places in remote villages, sponsorships for poor students for higher education- tuition, fees, rent, pocket money, families affected by Corona, Iftar meals, Eid clothing, general alms sadaqat spend on all aspects of good deeds, worker’s salary sponsorship, emergency relief, store, sadaqa, purchase of electrical devices and furniture for families in need, water and electricity bill payment, Fakk Kurbah, purchase of food for families, clothing/ school uniforms/ school bags/aid, charitable projects/ Quran schools and childcare centres/water, sponsoring of empowerment projects and programmes for needy families and charitable construction of buildings.

People on social media expressed what a loss it is to have her absence in the charity area in the Sultanate of Oman.

She was truly an inspiration for thousands of people in the Sultanate of Oman and accordingly volunteers and donors grew too.

The members of the board of directors of the Omani Organization for Charitable Works and its employees extended their sincere condolences and sympathy on the death of the virtuous Rahima al Musafir, President of Al Rahma Association for Motherhood and Childhood Care.

“We ask God to forgive her and have mercy and to inspire her family and relatives with patience and solace.

And unto God and to Him we shall return,” they said.

In paying her tribute to Rahima, Barka al Bakry said to Observer, “Um Sara returned to her creator after a long illness. She was a dedicated social worker having served thousands of needy Omani and non-Omani families. Al Rahma is one of the greatest NGO in the Sultanate of Oman that touched the lives of thousands of people. The administrative setup of the Association is huge that included offices in Al Khoudh and godowns at Maabela and beyond. She was highly respected by the Government departments as well as the general public for her dedication and long hours of hard work. I usually meet her at least once a year to review our common interest in social Work. May Allah rest her in peace among the believers in Jannàtal Firdaus.”
