Khazaen inks pacts to host animal feed, veterinary medicine projects

Muscat: Under the auspices of Dr Saud bin Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Khazaen Economic City signed a pair of agreements for the establishment of projects specializing in the production of animal feed and veterinary medicines
The first agreement was signed with the Omani Bio-Products Company for the construction of a plant for the production of animal feed and fish meal on a total area of 45,000 sq metres. In the first phase, the project will produce 48,000 of animal fodder by processing around 40,000 tons of agricultural residues into nutritionally fortified animal fodder along with about 8,000 tonnes of dates per annum.
The second agreement was signed the Gulf Agricultural and Veterinary Company to establish a factory for veterinary medicines and animal food, at a total cost of about RO 3 million. The plant will produce more than 10 types of liquid veterinary medicines, with a capacity of about 5,000 boxes per day. A further 20 types of veterinary medicines will be produced, together with special feed in powder form for livestock and poultry.
