MUSCAT: ABQ Education Group is once again an official partner of the 2022 Al Mouj Muscat Marathon. These educational trailblazers are showing their ongoing commitment to children’s health and wellness by sponsoring the three kids’ races (1, 2, and 3 kms) at the upcoming edition of the Marathon. ABQ has further extended their support by sponsoring 300 government school students to participate this year, including students from Al Izdihar School and Suhail Bin Amr School.
Commenting on their involvement, Ibrahim Al Salmi, ABQ Education Group Assistant CEO, said, 'Out of our keenness to achieve cooperation with the Directorate General of Education - Muscat and the organisers of Al Mouj Muscat Marathon, ABQ Education Group's initiative comes to support selected public schools to participate in the marathon taking place on 11 and 12 February 2022. The initiative falls within the framework of urging students to follow a healthier and more active lifestyle and instilling a culture of exercise in students and society in general.”
He added, “The motto of our group is ‘We Care’ and this mindset is not limited to ABQ students only. ABQ is involved in various community initiatives throughout the year and are excited to enable the 300 additional students to compete this year. This initiative is a true embodiment of who we are as a school family. Participating in Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is an investment in their future.”
Nick Cartwright, Managing Director of SABCO Sport, added, “We are delighted to be collaborating with ABQ Education Group for Al Mouj Muscat Marathon 2022. More than 10,000 participants of all ages have registered so far with four weeks to go until the race. If you have always wanted to try a marathon or half-marathon, regain your fitness, or try something new, then do not miss out on a great opportunity to start building healthy habits and step out of your comfort zone to test yourself. The race weekend will be a festival of running with entertainment, food, arts and crafts - and a race for everyone.”
'We are pleased that ABQ Education Group sponsored a number of students to participate in this year’s Al Mouj Muscat Marathon. We look forward to further cooperation in the future and opening the doors to a larger number of government schools in the future,” Nick added.
The Al Mouj Muscat Marathon is the most popular event on the national sporting calendar and Oman’s biggest race, and students from all three ABQ schools will participate in this exciting event. Approximately 400 ABQ students have already registered, and this number will most likely grow even more closer to the event.
