Oman International Hospital gets EFQM certification
First hospital in the region to receive this accreditation

MUSCAT: Oman International Hospital, the multi-super specialty hospital in Oman, made history by becoming the first recipient of the prestigious European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) certification in the region.
EFQM certification is awarded to distinguish organisations that follow an assessment framework based on “Excellence Model” and have met their established objectives.
Organizations that are EFQM certified, perform better by creating data-driven insights backed up by organizational experts to fit priorities, purposes and people.
Dr José Alexandre Cunha, Board Member of Oman International Hospital and Chairman of IGHS Group that manages the hospital said, “We have been in operation for just little over a year in Oman and to be accredited with this certification as the first hospital in the region truly speaks volumes of our commitment and dedication to make this hospital an impeccable landmark in Oman’s healthcare sector. I am truly proud of this recognition for Oman International Hospital.”
He added, “This certification not only reassures the people of Oman the highest standards of treatment when they visit us but also motivates us to better ourselves to earn more such international recognitions. My sincere thanks goes to Oman’s Ministry of Health and other government sectors that have been supporting us.”

OIH was officially inaugurated on January 6, 2022 by HE Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health in the presence of HE Abdul Salam Mohammed al Murshidi, Executive President of Oman Investment Authority, HH Basma al Said, Shaikha Amal Suhail Bahwan, Chairperson of Al Afia Healthcare Development and Investment company and Vice Chairperson of Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, several ambassadors and distinguished guests.
Oman International Hospital is a joint venture by Suhail Bahwan Group Holding, Oman Brunei Investment Company and IdealMed GHS, Portugal.
The high-profile event started off with a ceremonial ribbon cutting by the chief guest HE Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Saidi, Minister of Health declaring the hospital fully open with all its services and treatments available to the people of Oman.
OIH is the home to five Excellence Centers, a hybrid operation theatre and several other cutting-edge features and facilities. The expert doctors, nurses and para-medical staff of the hospital are drawn from Oman and across the globe and are highly experienced.
The sprawling 42,000 Sq mtrs hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technological solutions from across the world and is strategically located in the center of capital Muscat’s Al Ghubra area, just across the road from the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Oman International Hospital is easily accessible from any part of the city.
