Pact confers OPAZ with powers to offer ‘Invest Easy’ services
Shared mission: Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion signs technical cooperation agreement with Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones

MUSCAT: A technical cooperation agreement signed by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion now enables the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) to exercise the same powers as the former in the operation of the Sultanate’s ‘Invest Easy’ one-stop portal for new licences and permit.
The agreement was signed by Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary for Commerce and Industry, with Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.
According to the pact, the powers of all electronic services, provided by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion via the “Invest Easy” Portal, will be granted to the one-stop shop in the special economic zones and free zones.
This cooperation programme aims to facilitate and simplify the procedures for investors to obtain all the approvals, permits and licences necessary for their investment projects in a one-stop shop and a specific period of time. It also serves forming a system of integrated services for investors, in order to create added values for a business environment that attracts investments in the Sultanate.
Further, the programme intends to raise the standard of services provided to investors by fast-tracking, simplifying procedures, consolidating relations with the relevant partners to provide integrated services to the investor, as well as strengthening the relationship with the investor to deliver a safe and attractive business environment.
The cooperation programme comes in line with the efforts accorded to develop the national economy, provide an attractive environment for investments in the Sultanate, grant the necessary licences to engage in various economic activities, create a sustainable environment and build continuous cooperation, which helps facilitating procedures and providing high quality services to investors in a record time and fast and easy procedures. Accordingly, this supports achieving the objectives of digital transformation, the Government’s directives and Oman vision 2040.
The programme also aims to encourage investment in the Sultanate in general and the special economic zones and free zones in particular, as well as facilitating and accelerating the process of investor transactions provided by the “Invest Easy” Portal.
