MUSCAT: The Oman Basketball League witnessed decisive victories as Al Bashayer defeated Salalah 98-50, while Dhofar overcame Al Suwaiq 71-34. Both matches were held at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in the Wilayat of Bausher.
The first match was dominated by Al Bashayer's offensive superiority, securing the first three quarters with significant leads, making Salalah's fourth-quarter win insufficient to narrow the gap.
Standout players for Al Bashayer included Saeed al Saadi, Osama al Riyami, Hadid Bait Bukhait, and Slaven Kopkavik, alongside Ahmed al Halhali, who all delivered exceptional offensive performances. Salalah's notable scorers were Faisal Bait Abdanabi and Mohammed al Houti.
The game opened with a strong attack from Al Bashayer, who led the first quarter 26-14 thanks to scoring contributions from Mahmoud al Souli, Saeed al Saadi, and Slaven Kopkavik. Despite Faisal Bait Abdanabi’s impressive three-point shots for Salalah, Al Bashayer maintained their lead.
In the second quarter, Al Bashayer extended their dominance with three-pointers from Hadid Bait Bukhait, Slaven Kopkavik, and Saeed al Saadi, closing the first half with a score of 52-18.
Al Bashayer continued their control in the third quarter, scoring 24 points compared to Salalah's 11. Although Salalah showed slight improvement in the fourth quarter by adding 21 points, the substantial lead ensured Al Bashayer's victory.
The match was officiated by an experienced referee team led by international referee Issam al Siyabi, along with international referees Thani al Khalasi and Al Mahdi al Alawi. The table officials included Maryam al Zadjali, Fatima al Harthy, and Salim al Judeidi.
Dhofar dominates Al Suwaiq
In the second match, Dhofar achieved a comfortable victory over Al Suwaiq with a score of 71-34. Dhofar's performance was powered by standout players Ayman al Tarshi, Mohammed al Muharami, Abdulrahman al Shibli, and Abdulrahman al Noufali. On the other side, notable scorers for Al Suwaiq were Noufal Taysir and Abdul-Salam al Khasibi.
Dhofar started strong, imposing their offensive and defensive strategies in the first quarter, scoring 18 points while limiting Al Suwaiq to 11. The second quarter saw balanced exchanges, with both teams scoring 10 points, leaving Dhofar ahead at halftime with a score of 28-21.
Dhofar regained full control in the third quarter, adding 21 points while Al Suwaiq managed only 7, ending the quarter with a commanding 49-28 lead.
In the fourth quarter, Dhofar maintained their momentum, excelling in offence and defence. They added 22 points while limiting Al Suwaiq to just 6, sealing their impressive victory at 71-34.
The match was officiated by a team led by international referee Rashid al Mushefri, with international referee Wafa Al Samri as the second referee and Hassan al Owaimri as the third. Saeed al Ghamari, Huda al Hanaei, and Yaqoub al Nadabi were the table officials.
