NEW YORK: During its participation in the high-level meeting of the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), for 2025, in New York, the Sultanate of Oman has affirmed its steadfast commitment to support international humanitarian action and enhance rapid response to address disasters around the world.
Omar bin Said al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations (UN) in New York, said in a speech at the opening ceremony that the “Sultanate of Oman is engaged in backing rapid response to crises and humanitarian disasters around the world.” Oman’s speech, delivered in the presence of the UN secretary-general, stressed the importance of international solidarity in facing the rising number of humanitarian challenges. It also commended the vital role of the CERF in providing support to the most vulnerable groups.
The ceremony saw the participation of officials from UN specialised agencies tasked with humanitarian aid.
During the meeting, the Sultanate of Oman’s financial contribution (approved by the government) was announced. Oman’s contribution is aimed at backing CERF efforts to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance and support effective emergency crises response around the world.
Through its participation, the Sultanate of Oman reiterates its commitment to the principles of international humanitarian action and its readiness to pursue its cooperation with the UN and all international partners, enhance human security and achieve stability and sustainable development for all. - ONA
