MUSCAT: The weather was salubrious in the afternoon of Friday and the cheering crowd waited with baited breath as the tennis balls found their precise destination within the four fenced walls of the Oasis Cricket Club in Ghala where the sixth season of its Telyboyz Box Cricket Box Cricket Cup was held.

Overs after overs and after batsmen and fielders changing sides, and after many cheers, sighs, and shouts Thalassery's St Fort claimed the title once again in front of a packed crowd of box cricket enthusiasts at the tournament, marking a clear, third consecutive championship victory.

In the intense final, St Fort defeated Dubai Tellicherry Cricketers by a margin of minus 12 runs. While defeating St Fort in box cricket seemed almost impossible, Dubai’s spirited young team managed to restrict them to just two runs. However, with unwavering confidence and a fierce fighting spirit, St Fort rose to the occasion in the final and emerged as champions once again.

Mahi Chalubeez’ Nibras was named the tournament's Best Batsman, while the Final's Best Player and Best Bowler awards went to Shibin from St Fort.

The 2-day event, considered one of the most awaited annual sports fests among the members of the community as well as sports aficionados in Oman, witnessed teams from Thalassery and Dubai, along with players from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain vying for the title.

The event turned into a grand carnival uniting expatriates from Thalassery, with a massive crowd flowing into the Oasis Sports Ground. The dazzling decorations, traditional dance performances, and DJ music kept the audience on the feet throughout. Thalassery's variety of traditional delicacies and homemade food stalls added to the charm. Organisers expressed their delight, stating that the 30th anniversary of Telyboyz was celebrated as a true festival in every sense.
