Muscat: The Muscat Municipality has completed the first phase of the Golden Jubilee Walkway and is preparing to float a tender for the construction of the second phase which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The Golden Jubilee Walkway has an area of 84,400) square metres. It cuts through residential neighborhoods, commercial establishments and prominent landmarks. The walkway connects the Al Mawaleh, Al Hail and Al Khoudh districts of the capital city. It stretches along Maizoon Street to the north and the South Al Mawaleh quarter to the east and west and the Central Fruits and Vegetables Market and adjoining commercial area to the south.
The Golden Jubilee Walkway includes a 1,972-metre-long bicycle path. It also contains three plazas for rest that include sheltered seating areas, cafes and other entertainment and picnicking facilities.
Other facilities include green spaces extending over 38,250 square metres with various types of flowers and shade trees, two children's playgrounds and 140 car parks.
