Weather conditions to weaken on Monday

Muscat: There are chances of rain of varying intensity on Sunday in the governorates of Al Dakhiliyah, South al Sharqiyah, North al Sharqiyah, Muscat, South al Batinah, and Dhofar, which may lead to the flow of wadis. |


Scattered rains are also expected in parts of the governorates of North al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and the coastal areas of Al Wusta Governorate.


As the weather condition begins to gradually weaken and recede on Monday, there is a possibility of scattered rain in parts of the South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates and the coasts of Dhofar.

Rainfall of varying intensity (10-50 mm) may lead to flowing wadis and floods.


Active downward winds (15-30 knots).


Sea waves rise to rough (2-3 meters) on most coasts.


There are chances for dust rising and a reduction in horizontal visibility in deserts and open areas due to fresh winds.


Chance of low clouds or fog patches at late night to early morning along the coasts of the Arabian Sea and Sea of Oman.


Rains in Muscat



Nine crew members of a commercial boat were safely rescued by the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in Muscat Governorate with the help of police aviation after their vessel sank in the sea near Al Ghubrah Beach in the Wilayat of Bausher.


Though various parts of the capital received moderate to heavy rains from around 10 pm on Saturday, there were no reports of major waterlogging and disruption to traffic.


The Amerat-Bausher mountain road has been closed as a precaution for the safety of road users.


The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) urged citizens and residents to stay away from low places, water bodies, and wadi streams during rain.
