Oman grab Al Ula International Championship Cup

The Oman national tent pegging team claimed the Al Ula International Cup for tent pegging with traditional dressing, in the Saudi Arabia. The Oman riders were able to snatch seven medals including four gold, one silver and a bronze during December 17 to 19 competition with participants from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Jordan, Russia, Canada, South Africa and Kuwait.

Oman were crowned with championship cup and gold medals for team category, Iraqi team won silver medal and Saudi team achieved bronze medal on the final day on Tuesday.


In the individual category, Iraq's Osama Liwa won the gold, UAE's Fahd al Shammari took silver and Oman's Hamad bin Nasser al Riyami claimed the bronze medal along with Iraq's Abdul Hamid.

Derby Competition


The Sultanate of Oman won the International Show Jumping Derby Championship at Al Rahba track in Barka with participants of 111 horses from Poland, Egypt, Britain and Oman.


The event was organised by the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation and under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation for the season 2023-24, under the auspices of Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al Maamari, Director of Barka Municipality.


Oman's Khaled al Subhi on horse 'Otanya' was crowned first place in category A with a height of 130 cm. Warith bin Tamim al Mahrouqi on 'Extreme' from Oman achieved first place in category B with height of 120 cm. In category D with height of 110 cm, Oman's Sultan bin Hamoud al Tawqi on 'Less' won the title. In category E with height of 100 cm, Oman's Mazen bin Said al Yousifi on 'Colonel' won the first place.



In category F with height of 90 cm, Oman's woman rider Kayla bint Saud al Busaidyah on 'Atalerto' dominated to take the top spot. And in the beginners category, with height of 70 cm, four riders out of 22 were able to complete the round without any mistakes.
