Muscat, June 13
The Oman Olympic Association (OOA), headed by Khalid bin Mohammed al Zubair, Chairman of the Committee, announced the participation of the fifteenth edition of the Arab Sports Games, hosted by Algeria from July 5 to 15.
Oman will take part in five games, which are football, weightlifting, athletics, sailing and athletics for disabled. The competitions draw will take place on June 21-22.
The tournament will feature 23 games, namely: football, handball, volleyball, basketball, athletics, boxing, judo, wrestling, swimming, karate, gymnastics, badminton, cycles, weightlifting, sailing, table tennis, and iron ball, fencing, chess and three games for people with special needs.
The 23 games will take place in 5 Algerian cities, 11 games will be held in Algiers, four of them in Oran, two games in Tipaza, and two in Constantine, while the football matches will be held in Annaba.
The Board of Directors also approved the external participations that fall under the Oman Olympic Committee for the current year 2023, which are: participating in the second World Beach Games, which will be held on the island of Bali in Indonesia, from August 5 to 12. The 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8. As well as the Sixth Asian Indoor Games, hosted by the Thai capital, Bangkok, on November 17 to 26. And the first sports tournament for juniors of the GCC countries in UAE next December.
