Tadhamun Exhibition, which was held in support of children with disability and to raise funds for the activities of the Oman Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children, turned out to be a major attraction.

The annual event saw participation from established brands and SMEs. This year also saw exhibitors from other GCC countries as well.

Timed just before the onset of the holy month of Ramadhan, the exhibition had an array of products ranging from oudh and frankincense, lotions and perfumes, fabric and dresses, gems, crystals and jewellery, not to forget cosmetics.

“More than 3,000 to 4,000 people have visited the exhibition. We had more than 200 exhibitors participating. Our next exhibition is expected to be held in June just before Eid Al Adha,” said HH Sayyida Hujaija al Said, Chairperson of Oman Association for the Welfare of Handicapped Children.

Over the years the event has become an opportunity for many who look forward to showcasing their creativity.

Asmahan al Balushi started one year ago making bead chains for mobile phones and eye glasses as well as pouches.

Faiqa al Harrasi has made her passion for fragrances her business and she has made her own designer bakhoor and perfume oils and given it a twist with eye catching gift boxes inspired by traditional patterns. r1.accessories only has a presence on Instagram but has been a popular participant over the years and she has a new collection of jewellery for this season too.

This year men have come up with a variety of options such as oudh and perfumes.

Crystalista.om is a pet project of Abdullah al Wahaibi who imports crystals from Asia and South America.

“We supply to our neighbouring countries too. But here this is a great opportunity to introduce everyone to the beautiful world of crystals. All our crystals have certificates,” said Abdullah.

Stalls with dresses seemed to occupy most of the space giving a wide choice for shoppers.

Fatima al Awami is from Bahrain and her label is titled Al Bahrain. “I have been participating at this exhibition organised by the Association for the last eight years. This year also has been busy,” she said as she packed the purchased dresses for her customers.

“They like the new designs,” she said happily.

The trend is colourful Abayas and the long sleeves are in. The Royal blue is in trend and so is gold. Most ladies do not want black this season, said the designer.

What inspires her?

“My designing begins with the fabric. I buy fabrics wherever I go. Once I collect all my fabric then it is time for me to lock my room and start working on my designs,” said Fatima. The most satisfying moment is to see the excitement in shoppers’ eyes.
