Muscat: Under the auspices of Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, Al Khabour Club, represented by the Wadi Al Hawasneh team, organised a mountain walk (marathon) with the participation of 2,000 participants of different ages and women from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The walk was held in Wadi Al Hawasneh for a distance of 14 km, titled 'The Al Khabourah Path in the Footsteps of the Grandfathers'.
The goal of the walk was to introduce local tourism and the natural components that the mountainous areas of Wadi Al Hawasneh enjoy, to enhance the history and national heritage, and to spread health and sports awareness among societies, in addition to strengthening partnership between private sector and various groups of society.
The event also included several heritage activities and the participation of folk art teams, hiking, paragliding and motorbike events, an exhibition for supplying cars, an exhibition for four-wheel-drive tools, and a special exhibition for people with special needs.
In addition, a caravan of a group of camels loaded with old supplies and goods was also part of the event.
During the concluding ceremony, the chief guest honoured the participants, the supporting agencies and the volunteer teams.
