SUHAR: The Office of Governor of North Al Batinah on Tuesday signed agreements to the tune of RO 65 million with Sohar Port Company, Vale and OQ to offer investment opportunities for the locals of the governorate.

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Forum for Development and Business Opportunities, organised by Oman Development Bank (ODB) in partnership with the Office of Governor of North Al Batinah and a number of public and private entities.

On his turn, Hamad bin Salim al Harthy, Acting CEO of the ODB, announced the allocation of RO 20 million to provide financing loans to beneficiaries in the Governorate of North Al Batinah this year (2023).

Al Harthy presented a working paper titled “Funding Opportunities Through ODB”.

The Governor of North Al Batinah, Mohammed bin Sulaiman al Kindi, announced a prize named “North Al Batinah Governorate’s Award for Entrepreneurship”. The award will be shared by the best entrepreneur and the best institution supporting entrepreneurship.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Abu Bakr al Ghassani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ODB, pointed out that the bank devised an ambitious programme this year to hold "development and business opportunities forums" in Oman’s governorates in conjunction with their respective governors.

The aim is to establish an appropriate environment for the growth of small and medium enterprises so that they could achieve their target goals, he said. -- ONA
