MUSCAT: A delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participated on Wednesday in the activities of the “Converting Industries and Future Industries Laboratory”, which kicked off on January 2, to learn about the initiatives of Oman in the converting industries sector.

The delegation was led by Eng Al Badr Adel Fouda, Deputy Minister for Industrial Development and General Supervisor of Industrial Enablement, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The visit provided an opportunity to outline the Saudi experience in implementing the “Future Factories Initiative”, which focuses on the automation of factories to keep pace with modern technical trends and applications of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The presentation was attended by ministers, under-secretaries and members of the supervisory committee of the Omani Lab.

The event also included a review of programmes related to the integration of supply chains, as well aspects of cooperation in implementing initiatives and programmes within the GCC unified industrial strategy.

The reviewed looked into joint investment in the industrial sector and motivating the private sector to this sector.

The Saudi delegation also held a meeting with Dr Saleh bin Said Masan, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry. The meeting discussed opportunities for supply chain integration and investment in industries between Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The visit of the Saudi delegation to Oman is aimed at exchanging expertise in developing the industrial sector, notably in conjunction with the activities of the Converting Industries and Future Industries Laboratory.

The Lab is organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in cooperation with the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit and Industrial Innovation Academy. -- ONA
