Muscat: A vehicle with two people drifted in Wadi Ghayya in Yanqul where the rescue teams of the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority in al Dhahira governorate were able to save one person, and the search for the other person is underway.

As the downpour from the low pressure at varying intensity was experienced in the northern governorates of Oman, wadis flowed often maneuvering into the streets.

Oman Met Office had warned earlier in the day of, “A very heavy rain thunderstorm accompanied by active winds and heavy hailstones over Al Buraimi Governorate, moving towards North Al Batinah Governorate in the states of Sohar and Saham.”

Rescue teams from the Civil Defense and Ambulance Department in ⁧‫#the North Al Batinah Governorate responded to a report of the 107 people being stranded in a specialized physical therapy center as a result of the high rainwater levels. The center was evacuated and they were transferred to health institutions to check on their health condition.

CDAA requested for everyone’s safety, “We call for the necessity of taking caution during thunderstorms, not crossing valleys, and avoiding low places.”

As the weather condition continues today, the Met Office said there could be chances of thunderstorms and heavy rain during the coming hours, and opportunities for sometimes torrential valleys to flow in some of the governorates.

There was also deployment of rescue teams in various civil defense and ambulance departments in the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman to secure sites, raise awareness and provide guidance.

The authority stressed the necessity of staying at home and not going out except for necessity. They have requested public to stay away from flowing wadis.
