ZTE unveiled the world’s first 5G smartphone at the Mobile World Conference. Earlier in January, the company had teased that it would launch the “World’s first groundbreaking concept mobile phone” at the MWC and true to its promise, the company has delivered, ZTE debuted the 5th Generation smartphone or the Gigabit Phone, which supports 5G, at the event. This forward-looking handset is expected to change how one perceives technology. “We are thrilled to introduce the world’s first smartphone with download speeds up to 1Gbps. With the new device, the way people stay connected will be changed forever,” says ZTE spokesperson.

Focusing on 5G technology is the main priority for ZTE’s worldwide development. The company is looking forward to “leverage its technology strength and experience in 5G.” ZTE is optimistic that it will be able to use this technology to propel 5G in the near future and partner with businesses and the government to facilitate the process. Though the company has not yet released the complete list of features of the device, ZTE looks forward to utilising its technological knowledge and experience in implementing the 5G tech successfully.

The Gigabit Phone is not for sale right now and has been shown to the audience with the aim of offering them a glimpse of 5G, its ultra-high downloading and uploading speeds. More like a peek into the future, where innovations meet the expectations of people. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU, the Gigabit Phone also comes loaded with the Snapdagon X16 LTE modern, in combination with the 4x4 MIMO antenna technology and also 256-QAM specifications. A combination of these ensures 10 times faster download speed when compared to the first-gen LTE devices.
