Ooredoo awarded OMR 1,000 to Mai bint Muhammad Al Alawi for her 2nd Place finish in the prestigious Shababiah Art Competition.

Originally from Baghdad, Iraq, the graphic artist was tasked with designing her own creative interpretation of Shababiah’s logo, earning her runner-up spot with an inventive combination of pearl and glitter that represented the Sultanate’s wondrous waves.

A lifelong lover of art and design, Mai got her start as a nail artist at just 8 years of age.

Over the years, her skills have continued to grow especially during the last half-decade. After learning about the Shababiah Art Competition through social media, she decided to take inspiration from Omani textiles to create a truly unique design that reflected the abundant waves of Oman’s stunning coast.

Mai said, “I am always asked why I like to focus on nail art. For me, while they present a smaller canvas, nails have a fine touch and offer limitless opportunities to create unique designs. In fact every nail I work on has its own story.”

She added, “This is the first competition I have entered in Oman and I am extremely happy to be among its winners. It brings me great pride to see one of my designs used by the brand. I would like to thank Ooredoo for giving me the opportunity and I would also like to congratulate all the other winners on a job well-done.”

Shababiah has continued to earn a reputation with the youth of Oman as the lifestyle partner of choice by offering unique sponsorships, events, movie premiers and exciting competitions that empower them with opportunities to showcase their skills and personalities.
