A masterclass workshop on CSR and sustainability kicked off yesterday at the National Business Centre (NBC) in the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM). This programme, organised by Xeem-Fatma Al Riyami Consultancy, TUV SUD ME and Tawasul/Global Connection Centre, is funded by Oman LNG Development Foundation, and in cooperation with the Sustainability Knowledge Group.

Additionally, this workshop emphasises the significance of innovative social and sustainable approaches, particularly as it relates to how organisations can persevere during the economic slowdown.

The 3-day programme is anticipated to nurture and create a network of sustainability professionals and enable participants to gain skills and build knowledge that will ultimately enable them to contribute towards implementing sustainability in their organisations and to benefit Oman at large.

Khalid al Massan, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation shared, “Developing skills in the field of sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are essential to continue to deliver value to the communities of Oman.

We are grateful for the partnership and we will continue to translate the vision of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, and continue to collaborate with the government, private sector and individuals in order to enhance the Omani society by fostering abilities and knowledge to maximise value for the people of Oman.”

“With the increased need for CSR conscience businesses such topics are required to be addressed and attended to, moreover we are most delighted seeing our SMEs collaborating to bring such programmes in Oman,” said Malak al Shaibani, Director- General of the National Business Centre.

The organisers assert the CSR Masterclass is important for Oman, especially in the pertaining economic situation and according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index,

businesses that adopt sustainability and CSR practices stand in fare position during economic crisis than those that have not yet embraced CSR, as it assists in improving business performance especially in managing long-term risks.

The workshop shall highlight the benefits of CSR for businesses and will underscore its profound value as it applies to the current business arena.
