Wildlife officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in cooperation with the Environment Conservation Office at the Diwan of Royal Court and Royal Oman Police arrested poachers in the Qantar township in the Wilayat of Qurayat. Earlier, the ministry’s wildlife monitors in Qurayat had received several reports about shotgun shots during the past few days. The officials launched an investigation into the incident focusing on the shooting site. Hearing the bullet whizzing at the same location, the wildlife observers in coordination with the Environment Conservation Office and Royal Oman Police cracked down on the poachers. Two persons were arrested in the raid. The police also seized weapons and a gazelle hunted by the poachers. The case was referred to the Qurayat Police Station and they will be handed over to the authorities afterwards.
