Two hunters held for poaching Arabian Gazelles at Jabal Kahwan

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has said that the wildlife officials in South Al Sharqiyah arrested two people for poaching Arabian Gazelles iat Jabal Kahwan reserve sanctuary. The accused have been handed over to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).


Hunting or smuggling of gazelles, oryx and deer from a nature reserve is a crime punishable by imprisonment of five years and a fine of RO5,000. It may be noted that recently two persons were arrested with arms by ROP in coordination with the environment preservation office in Quriyat. Another gang of alleged poachers was arrested in April this year.
